Chai Cancer Care

Chai Cancer Care is the Anglo-Jewish Community’s Cancer Support Organisation, enabling both patients and loved ones affected by cancer to cope. The Chai Cancer Support Centre based in Hendon serves as the base for Chai’s services and support programmes. Services range from one to one complementary therapies such as acupuncture and reflexology, group activities such as yoga and pilates, access to expert medical referrals, confidential counselling for individuals and families, a free telephone helpline and legal, financial and spiritual advice plus many more. Every client’s needs are individually and confidentially assessed. A diagnosis of cancer affects not only the patient but has a ripple effect through family and friends. Chai’s expertise and services are for the benefit of everyone involved. Chai believes that nobody has to suffer cancer alone.

Emunah

Emunah is one of the primary social welfare organisations in Israel. Emunah in the UK is part of World Emunah with 180,000 members in 30 countries. Emunah in the UK funds 32 of the 225 Emunah projects in Israel. Each of our projects is maintained to the highest standard. For the past 75 years Emunah has provided successful solutions to the ever changing needs of Israel’s most deprived and vulnerable children and families, and is now able to offer an immediate response to rescue Israeli children at risk from the physical and sexual abuse many face on a daily basis. Emunah's most recent project is the Sarah Ronson Crisis and Intervention Centre in Sderot, that provides individual and group counselling to families whose lives have been traumatised by the daily barrage of kassam rockets that land in or around Sderot. Emunah works for our children in Israel.

CST

The CST ensures the safety and security of the Jewish community in Britain. Our belief is that the Jewish community is responsible for its own well-being. We draw on a network of 3000 volunteers throughout the country, who come from all spheres of Jewish life, regardless of religious observance, political beliefs, age or gender. Our work is provided entirely without charge and is funded solely by donations from the Jewish community.

Camp Simcha

Camp Simcha works throughout the year to improve the quality of life for Jewish children in the UK with cancer and other life threatening illnesses, as well as their families. With this goal, the charity provides emotional and practical support, special volunteers for each child, a parent and siblings support network, respite and holiday scheme programmes, international resources, parties, outings, a medically equipped summer camp in the USA and a retreat for the whole family. Our work is carried out by a team of trained staff and volunteers dedicated to giving their time to help these very special children and their families. Our services are provided free of charge to families regardless of Jewish observance or affiliation. Camp Simcha works with all hospitals and is funded entirely from voluntary donations.

Jewish Blind and Disabled

Jewish Blind & Disabled is the only charity in the community providing caring assisted living accommodation for people of all ages with physical disabilities or vision impairment. We transform the lives of 350 tenants and their families by offering independence, dignity and security at its seven complexes of apartments across north London. Jewish Blind & Disabled is a completely independent organisation, not part of any other charity. Our services are increasingly in demand and we have a long waiting list so are urgently looking for land for an eighth building.

JCD

JCD, formerly known as Jewish Child’s Day, has been providing support for handicapped, neglected, abused and underprivileged Jewish children in the UK, Israel and Eastern Europe for more than 60 years. JCD helps pay for life-saving medical equipment and special educational materials for children with psychological problems and learning difficulties. Braille equipment for the blind, hearing stimulus equipment for the deaf, walking aids for the multi-handicapped as well as clothing, toys and games, books, playground equipment and holidays are all paid for with the help of JCD allocations. Relying entirely on the generosity of the community and receiving no government or statutory funding, JCD grants give Jewish children throughout the world the chance to make a better life for themselves.

Jewish Care

Jewish Care is the largest health & social care charity for the Jewish Community, caring directly for over 7,000 people every week. Jewish Care runs 70 centres & specialist services throughout London and the South-East. The organisation provides a wide range of services for elderly people, Holocaust survivors and refugees. Jewish Care also offers support & guidance to families, carers & the bereaved, as well as organising recreational, educational and cultural programmes for children, young people and adults.

Jewish Women's Aid

Jewish Women’s Aid offers counselling and support for women who have experienced any form of domestic abuse. Our services are there for women who choose to stay in their own home and for those who feel they must leave. We offer a freephone helpline, a secure Refuge, professional counselling and advice on legal, housing, financial, emotional and family issues. We help women to regain their self respect and confidence.

Magen David Adom UK

Magen David Adom saves lives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year in times of peace and war. MDA receives approximately 500,000 emergency calls every year, whether a terrorist attack or a woman in labour. Much needed funds go towards the training of paramedics and volunteers, maintaining ambulances and replenishing supplies.

Tzedek

Tzedek is a Jewish overseas development and educational charity. Their vision is a world without extreme poverty. Tzedek provide direct financial support to sustainable self-help development projects in some of the poorest communities of the world, regardless of race or religion. Tzedek also offer overseas volunteering opportunities which allow participants to gain a deeper insight into the effects of global poverty. Here in the UK, Tzedek are strongly committed to education. Tribe

Tribe is the Young United Synagogue. We are working with our communities to make them places where young people feel they belong. The sponsorship money raised by this fun run will provide a bursary fund to allow all Tribe members to be able to attend Tribe events, such as our summer camp for teens and summer schemes for kids.
