Who organises the Community Fun Run?

For the sixth consecutive year, a number of Jewish charities have teamed up to organise the Community Fun Run, making it a major cross communal fundraising charity event. The Community Fun Run is logistically managed by Maccabi GB.

Do I have to be super-fit to participate?

No. Adults, kids and families are all welcome as The Community Fun Run is aimed at every fitness level. There is a choice of either a 1km, 5km or 10km course, so absolutely anybody can participate, from the youngest to the oldest... so no excuses!

How far is the course?

There is a 1km, 5km and 10km course option. The new shorter 1km route is suitable for any fitness level or age. The 5km run is a more challenging but fun option where you can walk, jog, run, push a buggy or even participate hopping in fancy dress! The 10km course is generally recommended for the more serious runner.

How much does it cost to register to run (or walk)?

There is a charge to run or walk in the Community Fun Run which covers the cost of administration, marketing and event t-shirts. This cost is £15 for adults and £10 for children (under 16), and a family rate of £40 for two adults and two children (the equivalent of one child going free!).

How much does it cost to spectate?

It is free to come along on the day to spectate and cheer on the runners. There will be lots for the family to see and do (see below).

How many charities can I run for?

You can run for one or as many as you like, but you will obviously have to share out however much you manage to raise between them.

How much do I need to raise?

There is no minimum amount to be raised after the initial registration fee. However, this is a communal charity event and the more money you raise, the more your chosen charity or charities will be able to benefit from your participation.

Do I have to run for a charity?

No.

Can I just come along for the Fun Day part?

Yes of course. As well as the three runs, we also have an action packed Fun Day with loads to do for all the family! Entertainment this year includes face painting (provided by www.letspartyentertainments.co.uk), bouncy castle, penalty shootout, arts & crafts and much more! Stephen Melzack of Two Candles Burn pictured above (www.twocandles.com) will be singing with the children and teaching then the Fun Run song to perform before the 1K race.

Are there any other ways to get involved other than running or walking the course?

Absolutely. Come along on the day and support the runners or better still volunteer to help out on the day. We are actively recruiting volunteers for a variety of roles so if you are able to help us please call the Maccabi GB team on 020 8457 2333.

What clothing should I wear on the day?

Please wear appropriate clothing and running shoes. Runners will be provided with a Community Fun Run t-shirt to wear around the course.

Will refreshments be provided?

Water will be provided at the start and finish line. Other food will able to be purchased on the day.

Will there be a prize for the winner of each run?

No, just the pleasure of knowing you could be the best 1km, 5km or 10km runner in the Community!!!
