Community Fun Run FAQs

When is the Community Fun Run?

Sunday 23rd May 2010.

Where is the Community Fun Run?

The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, Butterfly Lane, Elstree, Herts, WD6 3AF.

Who organises the Community Fun Run?

For the fourth consecutive year, a number of Jewish charities have teamed up to organise the Community Fun Run, making it a major cross communal fundraising charity event. The Community Fun Run is logistically managed by Maccabi GB.

Do I have to be super fit to participate?

No. All fitness levels are welcome and the event is aimed at adults, kids and families who can opt for the traditional 5k or 10k course or the new 1k course. In other words ABSOLUTELY ANYBODY can participate, from the youngest to the oldest – at any fitness level.

How far is the course?

There is a 1k, 5k and 10k course option. The new shorter 1km route is suitable for any fitness level or age. The 5k run is a more challenging but fun option where you can walk, jog, run, push a buggy or even participate hopping in fancy dress! The 10k course is generally recommended for the more serious runner.

How much does it cost to register to run (or walk)?

£15 for adults and £10 for children (under 16). This covers administration, marketing and Community Fun Run t-shirts.

How much does it cost to spectate?

It is free to come along on the day to spectate and cheer on the runners. There will be lots for the family to see and do.

How many charities can I run for?

You can run for one or as many as you like, but you will obviously have to share out however much you manage to raise between them.

How much do I need to raise?

There is no minimum amount to be raised after the initial registration fee. However, this is a communal charity event and the more money you raise, the more your chosen charity or charities will be able to benefit from your participation.

Do I have to run for a charity?

No.

Are there any other ways to get involved other than running or walking the course?

Absolutely. Come along on the day and support the runners or better still volunteer to help out on the day. We are actively recruiting volunteers for a variety of roles so if you are able to help us please call the Maccabi GB team on 020 8457 2333.

What clothing should I wear on the day?

Please wear appropriate clothing and running shoes. Runners will be provided with a Community Fun Run t-shirt to wear around the course.

Will refreshments be provided?

Water will be provided at the start and finish line. Other food will able to be purchased on the day.

Will there be a prize for the winner?

No, just the pleasure of knowing you are the best mid-distance runner in the community!
