What is the Community Fun Run?
For the fourth consecutive year, a number of important Jewish charities have teamed up to organise a major cross communal fundraising charity event called the Community Fun Run.
The event is managed by Maccabi GB and the following charities are presently involved:
Camp Simcha, Chai Cancer Care, Chana, CST, Emunah, Ezer Mizion, GIFT, The GM Trust, Hadassah, Jami, JBCS, Jewish Blind & Disabled, Jewish Deaf Association, JCD, Jewish Care, Kisharon, Maccabi GB, Magen David Adom, No Surrender, Norwood, Oasis of Peace, UJIA, WIZO.uk, Youth Aliyah Child Rescue, Zaka and Zichron Menachem. You can read more about all of these organisations by clicking here.
Please join us on Sunday 23rd May 2010 at The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School to enjoy our fabulous free FUN DAY for kids and families or to complete either the 1k (new for 2010), 5k or 10k course in order raise money for your chosen charity or charities. Last year participants raised over £100,000 for the charities involved and we are aiming to increase that total this year. The weather at the 2009 event was truly wonderful which of course we can't promise again. We can however promise that you and your families will have a tremendously rewarding day and meet like-minded people who are raising much-needed funds for the outstanding communal organisations involved.
What happens at the Fun Day?
Once again we have an action packed fun day with lots to do! Entertainment this year includes bouncy castle, penalty shootout, face painting, arts & crafts, Two Candles Music session, Israeli Dancing provided by the Israeli Dance Institute & Zumba sessions provided by Body Logic Fitness!
Who is the Community Fun Run aimed at?
The Community Fun Run unites and engages the entire community, young and old, serious runner to casual stroller. All fitness levels are welcome and the event is aimed at adults, kids and families who can opt for the traditional 5k or 10k course or the new 1k course. This new shorter route means that ABSOLUTELY ANYBODY can participate, from the youngest to the oldest – at any fitness level. The 5k run is a more challenging but fun option where you can walk, jog, run, push a buggy or even participate hopping in fancy dress! The 10k course is generally recommended for the more serious runner.
Whatever your reason for getting involved, do please participate. Whatever you can raise is worth raising and you might even want to use this as an excuse to to train and get fit!
Entrance to the event is only £15 per adult and £10 per child (under 16). It is absolutely free to come along on the day and support the runners and enjoy the Fun Day activities.
All funds that are raised above and beyond this will go directly to your specified charity.
You can also support the event and participating charities by becoming a volunteer on the day. We have loads of important roles that need filling and the event can't run without their help. If you would like to sign up as a volunteer please call the Maccabi GB office on 020 8457 2333 or email info@communityfunrun.org
